Starting on February 24th, we will use a new 5-week series by Theocademy, “Being Presbyterian: Foundations of Presbyterian Discipleship” as the basis of our adult Sunday school class following worship. The description of the class reminds us, “to be Presbyterian is to join a way of life informed by a particular rhythm: God calls us in grace and love; we respond in gratitude.” The class will explore these themes of grace and gratitude and how they inform our Presbyterian theology. All are welcome, especially those who wonder what Presbyterians believe. For this month we will be using the videos and book by Max Lucado, “Grace.” What is grace? How would you define it? Come join us after worship on Sunday mornings for study and discussion. Class resumes with the final session after the New Year on January 6th.

We have begun a five week series on the reformer, John Calvin, considered the theological pioneer of the Presbyterian and Reformed branch of the Christian church. I hope you can join us after worship in the back classroom for a short video and a lively discussion.
After a summer break, our adult education series will resume on September 9th with the final lesson in Max Lucado’s series, “He Chose the Nails.” Then on September 23rd we will begin a 5 week series on the reformer, John Calvin, considered the theological pioneer of the Presbyterian and Reformed branch of the Christian church. Following that series, we will begin several weeks of music and learning as we look at the biblical texts that are put to music in Handel’s Messiah that pertain to Advent and Christmas. It will be an exciting and informative fall of learning. I hope you can join us after worship in the back classrooms beginning September 9th. We have begun studying the history of the Reformation, using a study titled, “Reformation Roots.” Each lesson has a short video and questions for discussion. There are 12 lessons in the material, and we will spread them out over the fall and into 2018. The class meets following worship on December 3rd. After a long holiday break, we will resume the class on January 7th. Thank you to all who are sharing in the leadership of this class.
