Dear Fellow Travelers,
There are a lot of great things happening at Edmonds PC. On May 18th, we had a great bicycle distribution event run by Edmonds Toyshop which is part of Edmonds Food Bank. They love working with us and we love them. If you would like to help them with their work, please consider giving to https://edmondsfoodbank.org/donate/

The Edmonds Coop Preschool has also been in full swing for several month. They will have a summer break starting in late June and then start up again in the fall. If you know anyone who needs preschool child care for 2 – 4 year olds, please have them to sign up for the fall: www.edmondscooppreschool.org

I will preach a series on the mysterious book of Hebrews this summer. We will have discussion time after worship in place of Bible Study starting in July. Our current “Acts” Bible Study continues through June 23. In the fall, we will study 2nd Corinthians which is a great book in the lead up to the election in November. Paul talks about faithful and good leadership.

Games Night on the 2nd Saturday of each month will continue through the summer. The next one is June 8th at 7 PM. Crafternoon was a great success in May. We will have it again on the 3rd Sunday after worship on June 16th.

Please tell your friends and family about our Online Streaming Worship. We are averaging about 30 views per week and would love to see it grow! Please go to the www.epc-pcusa.org website for the latest links.

This is what I am planning for worship in June.

Sunday, June 2nd. In “Your Servant is Listening” you will hear the story of Samuel being called by God quietly. I will also highlight Paul’s calling with a bang on the road to Damascus. We are all called to service in different ways. How do you answer God’s call in your life?

Sunday, June 9th. I interact with a lot of young people online. One theme I frequently hear about is the fear of “The Unforgivable Sin.” Jesus said blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is not forgiven. Should you fear it? It is something very specific and not something to be feared by ordinary people. Learn what it is.

Sunday, June 16th. In “We Walk By Faith Not By Sight” I explore one of the most amazing passages of 2nd Corinthians about Christian confidence. When we are integrated with our faith, we can serve God with boldness knowing that nothing is more power than the love of God in our lives.

Sunday, June 23rd. We will be blessed with the teaching of Rev. David Hackett. He has traveled the world spreading God’s goodness and he is filled with wisdom. Now retired, he and his wife Sandy are active in the Presbytery.

Sunday, June 30th. Eileen Otti will preach “Who Touched My Clothes” about Jesus healing the woman with a hemorrhage. This story is the best example of a Markan Sandwich. 11 times in Mark, he uses this literary device to highlight the deep compassion and grace of Jesus.

It is a joy to serve God with you! I look forward to worshiping with you in June!

Grace and Peace, Pastor Rob

MENUAL SCHOOL:  Menual school is a Presbyterian – related School in Albuquerque, New Mexico which educates students from 6th through 12th grades. The school aims to help students grow in mind, body and spirit. The school has international students as well as local students. Living space is available for students from out of the area. The class of 2022 commencement speaker was from Norway!  Menaul School stayed open during the COVID closure years. The school offers a good academic program, as well as art and music. Sports are available for interested students. A very high percentage of Menual graduates go to college. Community service is also important, and every year students do something to help people in the area where the school is located. Our $100 mission allocation for May will go to the Menual School.

Our One Great Hour of Sharing offering totaled $540. This money will now join offerings from other churches to help many people throughout the world.

We do not have any special offerings during the summer, but we can remember our missionaries and mission agencies in prayer. Prayer often tops the list of requests from missionaries and mission agencies. Pray for the 2024 graduates of the Menaul School as they continue their education in college or look for work. Concern for Neighbors Food Bank is serving 25% more households this year than before so they need prayers that there will be enough food to serve everyone who needs help. Vision House needs prayers for residents who are working hard to become financially independent and able to live on their own, and for staff members who work hard every day to help meet the needs of their clients. These are just 3 examples as all our mission partners need on-going prayers for God’s guidance in their work, and for enough funds to meet their financial needs.

Seven women met for a lunch meeting at the Pancake Haus in Edmonds on May 8.  Our last meeting before summer vacation will be a salad luncheon on June 12 at the church at 11:30 AM.  We plan to reveal our prayer partners and to elect officers for the coming year which is to start in September.  This is the time of year when we collect contributions for our mission projects and make plans for our fall agenda.  Do we  sponsor a rummage sale this summer? Which other projects would you like to consider?

Kathy M has faithfully served as our treasurer for several years, but now is unable to continue in that position.  We thank her for the many years of faithful service and support.

Fellowship hour continues in the Friendship Hall after worship each Sunday.
Game night was held at 7pm in the Friendship Hall at church on Saturday, May 11, we look forward to continuing game night on the 2nd Saturday of each month.  Everyone is invited to attend and to bring a favorite game.

We all enjoyed the potluck lunch held in April and would like to schedule another all-church potluck in June. Please let me know your preferences as to a date and time.

Our first “Crafternoon” craft day was held following worship on May 19 and was attended by 6 people.  Please bring the crafts you are working on and join us on the 3rd Sunday of each month.  We are enjoying coloring time even if you do not bring a craft.

Summer and Fall Adult Education
The Adult Bible Study which is studying the Book of Acts should wind up by late June.  For the summer, the adult education offering will be a discussion of Hebrews related to the passages preached that day.  The Adult Bible Study will resume after Labor Day with a study of Second Corinthians.  Second Corinthians provides a good backdrop for thought and discussion leading up to the November elections.  The study should end before Advent.  There will be a slight divergence of source material for the study with the Zoom Bible study being able to ask and follow more guided questions than the larger in person study that takes place every Sunday after worship.

Summer in Edmonds
As summer approaches, it is a good time to appreciate the City of Edmonds and all it has to offer.  This summer there will be multiple activities put on by the City.  Hopefully, you will have the opportunity to check out what Edmonds has to offer.  Check the City of Edmonds website for particulars, but this summer, Edmonds plans a lot of activities that you may want to consider, including:

Saturday Summer Market
Edmonds Summer Wine Walks
Edmonds Arts Festival
Pride Celebration at Civic Center Playfields
Puget Sound Bird Fest
4th of July Parade
Edmonds in Bloom Garden Tour
Concerts in the Park
Taste of Edmonds
Classic Car Show
