The Women’s Association will meet on October 11th at 11:30AM. Lunch will be served around noon. The chaplain from Swedish Hospital will speak after lunch. Our September speaker, Kim Gorney from Washington Kids in Transition told us about problems of homeless children in the Edmonds School District. Over 600 children in the district are homeless. One way to help is to take granola bars, cracker and cheese packs, or fruit snacks such as squeezable apple sauce to the Edmonds Methodist Church where they will be packed for after school snacks for homeless children. Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) is responding to the devastation caused by hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria, the earthquakes in Mexico, and the wildfires in the Western states. You may make a donation online at http://pda.pcusa.org/ or by giving a check to the church with the specific effort you’d like to support in the memo line. 100% of all moneys given during this time of need go directly to aid those affected. All overhead is paid for through annual, non- specific giving to PDA. PDA is also one of the recipients of our One Great Hour of Sharing offering, so thank-you for already giving in support of these relief efforts. The annual Presbytery VERGE event is happening in our neighborhood! This one day set of workshops is amazing. If you are interested in congregational renewal, this is the place to be! You may sign up online at: http://www.northwestcoast.org/leadership-summit-registration VERGE 2.0 2017 is inspired by Northwest Coast Presbytery's three core initiatives:
If you were here on Sunday, September 24th, you may have attended the congregational meeting to change Pastor Amy’s terms of call from ¾ time during the summer months and full-time during the rest of the year, to ¾ time year-round. Due to decreasing attendance, giving, and activities at the church, changing her terms of call to three quarter time year-round reflects the actual needs of the congregation. This change also allows Pastor Amy to resume her very-part-time work as a Spiritual Director, which is something she has been hoping to do. It should work well for her and for the congregation. Full copies of the changes are available in the church office.
Sunday, November 12, 2017 we will be Celebrating the History of Praising God Together at Edmonds Presbyterian Church 1961-2017. We will begin our morning with worship, including a “reunion” choir, followed by a potluck lunch and remembrances. We will give thanks for all that God has done and is doing through the life of this congregation. Look for opportunities to sign up online and in the Sunday bulletins beginning October 8th. |
