Lent is the season of the church year when we prepare our hearts and minds for Jesus’ death and resurrection. It is the 40 days preceding Easter, excluding Sundays. Lent began with Ash Wednesday, the day when we recall our need for God, remembering our own mortality - “dust you are and to dust you shall return.” Lenten devotional booklets are available on the back table with readings and prayers to assist you in a prayerful Lenten journey. You are invited to prayerfully enter into the season of Lent as we prepare our hearts and minds for the great good news of Easter. You’re invited …February 16th following 10 AM worship.
Bring a dish to share and enjoy a time of fellowship together. A two-part class, Sundays February 9 and 23rd following worship. 1 – How do archaeologists do their work? What questions can archaeology answer? What are the questions archaeology cannot answer? Come and watch the video “Biblical Archaeology from the ground down” together for these answers and more.
2- What do we know from archaeology about seafaring in Biblical times? A lecture given by archaeologist Shelley Wachsmann. White Elephant Gift exchange & Coloring night – Friday, December 13th, 7PM. Bring a small wrapped gift (less than $5 in value) for our gift exchange. This month we will also be coloring the Christmas Story. Bring a friend and join us on Friday December 13th, 7 -8:30PM. Coloring pages and pencils will be available, or bring your own. The Women’s Association will meet at the church on Wednesday, December 11th at 11:30. The Thank Offering for the National Presbyterian Women will be collected since we met at the Pancake Haus in November. After the business meeting, Pastor Amy will lead us in communion.
Lunch will be a salad luncheon, with everyone who is able bringing a salad to share. If you can’t bring a salad, come anyway so we can enjoy your company. The Bake Sale will be December 8th following worship. Bake your favorite goodies and bring some of them for the sale. All proceeds go to support missions. On Sunday, January 19th, we will hold a special worship service at 10 AM giving thanks for those who care for others, especially those caring for children, spouses, parents, and grandparents. You are invited to join us for worship and to participate, if you so choose, in a blessing for the hands of the caregivers. Feel free to invite a friend, or to contact Pastor Amy if you have any questions . Come and join us as we prepare to welcome the Christ Child! December 1st – The First Sunday of Advent with candle lighting and communion. The Women’s Association Bake Sale will be held Sunday, December 8th following worship. Come and buy some treats for the holidays and support the women’s mission causes. Choir Christmas Cantata – Sunday, December 22nd at 10 AM. The choir will lead us in a special musical service with the Christmas story presented in song. Christmas Eve worship – ONE SERVICE – at 5 PM We will celebrate the birth of Jesus early in the evening with a “come as you are” Christmas pageant. Arrive by 4:45 to select a costume for yourself or a child, and join us as we build a living nativity during the service. We need sheep and shepherds, angels and wise ones. Bring your family and join us! The service will conclude with candle lighting. |
