The Jean Kim Foundation fund raiser dinner in September emphasized how important Jean’s ministry has been to homeless and very low income people who want to get a college education. Due to health reasons, Jean is no longer able run the foundation so other people have stepped up to carry on her work. The foundation gives help with housing, medical needs, counseling, finding work, and assistance in applying for any tuition assistance available. A model of the tiny houses that are replacing the tents at Good Shepherd Baptist Church was on display at the dinner. It had heat and electricity, making it a comfortable place to sleep and study. Margaret Smith and Ruth Roberts attended the dinner and were very impressed with the work being done to help the students under the foundation’s supervision succeed in getting an education. A $150 check for their work was given to the Jean Kim Foundation from church mission funds.
