On October 17, VERGE 2.0 converges 7 innovative ministry leaders to share their stories with you, ignite your imagination, and encourage your ministry. None of them did it alone. They all steward stories bigger than themselves about God partnering with ordinary people to write new chapters in His unfolding mission on earth. Inspired by the TED Conference, we're asking these innovators to give the presentation of their life in 18 minutes or less. As a VERGE 2.0 participant, you will also receive timely and practical learning resources throughout the following year so that you can continue to benefit from this new learning community. Everyone is invited! Join us Saturday, October 17, 9 am - 3 pm, at Community Church of Seattle in Bothell to behold the bold things God is doing! Friday October 16, 5-9 PM will the semi-annual meeting of the presbytery, also at CCS. If you would like to carpool to either event, please contact Pastor Amy.

Remember the Sabbath . . . Only in God Can My Soul Find Rest Saturday, June 13, 9AM – 12:30PM North Creek Presbyterian Church, Mill Creek Rev. Denise E. & Rev. D. $40 (snacks & materials included) www.renewalminnw.org At this Prayer Retreat we will reflect on the meaning of Sabbath (Hebrews 4) and how we can create an oasis of sacred time to receive from God. Only God knows what we truly need. There will be extended time for silence and solitude. You will be given prayer exercises to guide you in your prayer with God. “There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for those who enter God’s rest also rest from their own work, just as God did from his.” Hebrews 4:10 It’s time to get your reservation in for a week of summer camp! Brochures for Tall Timber Ranch (Leavenworth) and Sound View Camp (Longbranch) are available on the back table in the Sanctuary, or you can find information online at Tall Timber Ranch (www.talltimber.org) or Sound View Camp (www.soundviewcamp.com). Camper-ships are available thanks to generous donations. Speak with Pastor Amy for more information. Our presbytery will have a leadership summit on Saturday, April 18th. We will have commissioners and pastors traveling from Alaska, the San Juan Islands, and the Peninsula who are in need of housing. If you are able to host someone Friday and Saturday nights, feeding them breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings, please let Pastor Amy know and we’ll forward your name to the Presbytery office. The Presbytery leadership summit will be at Maplewood Presbyterian Church in Edmonds, which is why we have been asked to advertise the need for home stays.
Our Presbytery will meet in four regions early in April. Our region will be meeting at Lake Forest Park Presbyterian Church, 6:30 PM on Tuesday April 7th. Topics to be covered include: What’s happening in the Presbytery? What can we learn from growing churches? There will also be a preview of the April 18th presbytery voting on General Assembly actions. All are welcome to attend.

2015 Per Capita Due Please note that per capita is $48.60 per member for 2015. Per Capita is a set amount of money (an apportionment) per member that congregations pay to the larger national Presbyterian Church (USA) once a year. Per Capita is one fundamental way by which about 11,000 congregations of the Presbyterian Church (USA) stay connected, and participate in the work of the whole church. We send our apportioned amount to our Presbytery (Northwest Coast Presbytery—$39.03) but funds are shared further with the Synod ($2.50) and General Assembly ($7.07), for a total of $48.60. For more information about Northwest Coast Presbytery - check out the new website: http://www.northwestcoast.org/ Please remember your per capita payment as you plan out your pledge amount for 2015. Finance Thank you for continued giving support of EPC’s ministry and mission. Because of your willingness to give, EPC continues in God’s ministry. Thank you for planning to honor God’s commitment to you, by underwriting His work through you at Edmonds Presbyterian. Without you, His work would not go forward. You, Edmonds Presbyterian Church, continue to affirm God’s blessings by allowing us to give 10% or to tithe our blessings to missions of both local and national concerns. Thank you. Minna D., Finance Elder/Stewardship Elder Northwest Coast Presbytery to meet in Ketchikan, Alaska! Remember when our presbytery (North Puget Sound) merged with Alaska Presbytery (SE Alaska)? One of the questions I was asked was “So, do you get to go to Alaska?” And the answer is, “Yes I do, and so does Linda!” I have been to Alaska three times already on Presbytery business – twice to Sitka and once to Wrangell. Now our Presbytery is holding its September meeting in Ketchikan and our Teaching Elders and Ruling Elder commissioners will all attend. One of the Alaska pastors told me not to get my hopes up, that it will likely rain the whole time we are there. So far, I've been blessed with sunshine on my three previous trips, so I can’t complain! Look for more updates on our new Presbytery following that meeting. – Pastor Amy |
