We will celebrate “Souper Bowl Sunday” on February 11th, the same day as the Super Bowl game. Bring a can or two of soup, or other non-perishable food item, and/or a small monetary donation to help alleviate hunger in the local area. All donations will go to the Concern for Neighbors Food Bank at the Terrace View Presbyterian Church in Mountlake Terrace. Churches throughout the United States will give “Souper Bowl” donations on that day to help feed hungry people in their local area.
CHRISTMAS JOY OFFERING
Our congregation gave a very generous amount of $815 to the Christmas Joy offering. This money will be used to help retired pastors and church workers with critical financial needs and to assist students of color attend Presbyterian-related schools and colleges.
ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING
On Palm Sunday, March 24th, we will bring our gifts for the One Great Hour of Sharing offering. This offering is given in many countries to help people facing hunger, natural or man-made disasters and to help people in the United States and many countries in the world who need some help in starting small business to support their families. A gift of a sewing machine, fishing gear or farming tools and seeds can help a lot to keep a family fed. We will have readers for three weeks in March to learn the stories of some recipients of past offerings.
EASTER BASKETS FOR CONCERN FOR NEIGHBORS FOOD BANK
The Women’s Association sponsors the Easter baskets, but needs the help of the congregation to fill the baskets. Each basket contains an Easter Story color book, stuffed animal, two plastic eggs with candy inside and individually wrapped pieces of Easter candy. We need donations of everything except the plastic eggs which we have enough of for this year. I will order the color books. The baskets will be given out at the Food Bank on Tuesday, March 26th, so we will need to fill them on Saturday, March 23rd.
